Pic­tures: The Civil Avi­a­tion His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety THE two years ei­ther side of 1985 saw the con­struc­tion of a new in­ter­na­tional ter­mi­nal and con­trol tower at Perth Air­port com­mence and be com­pleted and opened.

The then Fed­eral Min­is­ter for Trans­port, Ralph Hunt, an­nounced the con­struc­tion of the new ter­mi­nal and tower in 1980 and con­struc­tion be­gan in March 1984.

The Perth in­ter­na­tional ter­mi­nal was of­fi­cially opened on Oc­to­ber 25, 1986 by then Prime Min­is­ter Bob Hawke and the tower opened the fol­low­ing year.
