THIS year’s Help­mann Award nom­i­na­tions have been an­nounced with a num­ber of the nom­i­nees fea­tur­ing a Perth con­nec­tion.

In­di­vid­ual cast mem­bers from Les Mis­er­ables, many of them WAAPA grad­u­ates, were sin­gled out for in­di­vid­ual awards in­clud­ing Pa­trice Tipoki, Si­mon Glee­son and Ker­rie Anne Green­land.

The pro­duc­tion is also up for Best Mu­si­cal along­side Once, Any­thing Goes and Dirty Danc­ing, which opens at Crown Theatre Perth in Au­gust..

Other nom­i­na­tions in­cluded Perth chore­og­ra­pher Rachel Ari­anne Ogle for dance work Precipice and WASO con­duc­tor Asher Fisch for WASO’s Beethoven Fes­ti­val.

The Best Spe­cial Event Help­mann award was pre­sented to The In­cred­i­ble and Phe­nom­e­nal Jour­ney of The Giants to the Streets of Perth by Royal de Luxe, which opened the 2015 Perth In­ter­na­tional Arts Fes­ti­val.

The win­ners will be an­nounced on July 27 at the Capi­tol Theatre, Syd­ney.
