Help­ing to feed peo­ple in need

IN the past three years, Coles at Carousel Shop­ping Cen­tre has do­nated more than 30,500kg of food through its part­ner­ship with Se­condBite.

Vic­to­ria Park-based char­ity Manna Inc is one or­gan­i­sa­tion that has ben­e­fited from the part­ner­ship.

“The pro­duce pro­vided by Coles saves us time and more im­por­tantly, money.

“We turn this fresh pro­duce into cooked meals for hun­dreds of clients each day,” kitchen co-or­di­na­tor Lolo Sin­clair said.

Through­out this month, shop­pers can do­nate to Sec­ond- Bite to help pro­vide meals to peo­ple in need.

MasterChef Aus­tralia judge and Se­condBite am­bas­sador Matt Pre­ston en­cour­aged shop­pers to get be­hind the cam­paign.

“Thou­sands of peo­ple across Aus­tralia, in­clud­ing some lo­cal res­i­dents in this com­mu­nity, de­pend on Se­condBite and its com­mu­nity food pro­gram part­ners to get the nour­ish­ment they need.

“We en­cour­age lo­cal res­i­dents to sup­port Se­condBite this win­ter by do­nat­ing at Coles,” he said.

Cus­tomers can also pur­chase Se­condBite food stor­age la­bels for $2.
