CALL FOR SOLUTION

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Opinion -

I AM sure there must have been many letters written in the past about nuisance calls.

However, it seems the problem is getting worse.

Many of the calls are more annoying, especially when the person calling does not bother to answer but just hangs up.

Then you get a caller from an overseas telecentre who you cannot understand.

The latest was a call from someone in the Philippines trying to sell me solar panels.

If I wanted solar panels, I am sure I would not buy them from an overseas company.

This could be the latest scam to get your bank details.

There does not seem to be any immediate solution to the problem.

In the past, I have paid to leave my details out of the phone book, but I still got the calls. Next, I got a silent number by changing my phone number, but that did not work either.

It is time that the phone companies did something about this problem. However, do not hold your breath, as they are probably making money from these calls. FRANK GRANGER, Applecross.
