City pitch for funding
THE City of Belmont will apply for a grant for the proposed development of a community centre as part of a master plan for the Faulkner Civic Precinct.
BELMONT council will apply for a National Stronger Regions Fund grant for the proposed development of a community centre which is part of the City of Belmont’s master plan for the Faulkner Civic Precinct.
Developed from community engagement over many years, extensive background data and from results of the recent Faulkner Civic Precinct survey, the plan was prepared by consultants GHD and proposes to create a vibrant town centre that will meet the future needs and expectations of the community.
City of Belmont chief executive Stuart Cole said the precinct would become the civic heart of the city.
“The master plan proposes a well-connected precinct that will provide improved community spaces and an upgrade of existing facilities,” he said.
“The master plan ensures these key elements are included in the plan to create a space for the community, while the proposed community centre provides an exciting opportunity to accommodate new and modern community services and shared spaces.”
The new centre would include a library, senior citizens centre, museum, office spaces for not-for-profit organisations, a creche and cafe.
