Two beat Division One odds

EARLY retirement, a dream holiday, luxury cars – many daydream about what they would do if they scooped the pool in Lotto, but few are lucky enough to realise their aspirations.

Two people, however, have managed to beat the odds in as many weeks. Each won Lotto’s Division One jackpot.

News Extra Bentley owner Manish Nagar said he could not believe it when two regular customers won major prizes after buying their tickets from his store.

On July 15 a man from Bentley won the entire $1 million prize pool, and on August 1 another customer was one of eight winners in the $21 million draw, taking home around $1.25 million.

Mr Nagar, who took over the business seven months ago, said neither customer was in a syndicate or personally chose their numbers.

“It was the computer that printed the tickets and selected the numbers,” he said. “In my time here this is the first time I have seen (Division One wins) happen, and so close together.”

He said he had no tips for hopeful winners, but reminded them there was only one way to reach the jackpot. “You’ve got to be in it to win it,” he said.muni d441807 Picture: Will Russell
