Street parking fees reduced
The Town of Victoria Park has reduced on-street parking fees in the area surrounding Oats Street train station.
From September 1, on-street parking in the area will cost $1 per hour or $5 per day, as opposed to $2 per hour or $10 for eight hours.
The council says the lowering of parking fees was in response to community feedback during a scheduled review of its awardwinning parking management plan.
The Town’s parking management plan has been implemented with the objective of ensuring equitable access to limited parking spaces within the Town.
The area around Oats Street train station was identified as hotspot one in the plan and userpays parking was fully implemented in the area on February 20, 2014.
“When the parking management plan was implemented we made a commitment to review it regularly to make sure it is achieving its objectives,” chief executive Anthony Vuleta said.
“Following feedback from a recent review, we have decided to decrease the fees for parking in this area to help to evenly distribute user-pays and free parking.
“When parking in the Oats Street area, or anywhere in the Town, it is important to always check the signs posted for information on parking restrictions and remember to always pay and display.”
