Great coffee with a smile
EAST Victoria Park businessman Jimmy Metcalfe-Gibson believes in serving coffee with no frills; just great coffee with a smile.
The Cambridge University Masters degree graduate has had some high profile jobs in the past, including state manager of the world’s biggest spirit company, but like other business people, he just had to try his own ideas.
Mr Metcalfe-Gibson’s latest idea is Go Cup, a drive-through coffee concept operating out of Franklins Tavern on Albany Highway in East Victoria Park when the bottle shop is closed from 6am until 10am.
He said even though there were a lot of coffees available in the Victoria Park area, he was after more than just a brand name.
“At the end of the day it comes down to passion and care,” Mr Metcalfe-Gibson said.
“In my ‘coffee journey’ thus far, I’ve learnt that creating a great cup of coffee is as much a science as an art.
“It’s less about ‘ the what’ and more about the how; it needs precision.
“I follow exactly the same process every time and care enough to continually adjust the variables, such as how fine/coarse the grinder is grinding due to weather changes, until they are perfect.”
