Race­course set to host pop-up wa­ter­park

SIT­TING just four kilo­me­tres from the city, Bel­mont Race­course is a large piece of land just wait­ing to be used.

This sum­mer, a pop-up wa­ter­park will make use of it af­ter the Town of Vic­to­ria Park ap­proved it at last week’s coun­cil meet­ing.

It will open in Novem­ber and op­er­ate un­til April.

Xs­cape at the City will fea­ture a com­bi­na­tion of slides, rides, and ac­tiv­i­ties. The main at­trac­tion will be a twin-lane wa­ter slide al­most 13-storeys high.

Park di­rec­tors Dou­glas Camp­bell and Nasir David have been de­sign­ing, procur­ing, con­struct­ing and op­erat- ing suc­cess­ful leisure parks in WA for the past 30 years and op­er­ate Xs­cape at the Cape in Duns­bor­ough.

The plan will now go to the WA Plan­ning Com­mis­sion for ap­proval.

Town chief ex­ec­u­tive An­thony Vuleta said his team was ex­cited about Xs­cape be­ing hosted within the Town of Vic­to­ria Park.

“I think it will fit in well with our vi­brancy,” he said.

“Af­ter en­joy­ing the popup wa­ter park I in­vite visi­tors to spend some time in the Town dis­cov­er­ing our won­der­ful parks, fore­shore, places to eat and great shop­ping op­tions.”
