Fun park visit se­ri­ous busi­ness for stu­dents

TOURISM and hos­pi­tal­ity stu­dents from Bel­mont City Col­lege were given a be­hindthe-scenes look at Ad­ven­ture World dur­ing a visit last month.

De­spite be­ing the park’s off-sea­son, there is still plenty to plan and pre­pare.

Dur­ing the visit, stu­dents were given for­mal brief­ings, saw back-of-house oper­a­tions, phys­i­cal ob­ser­va­tions of safe work prac­tices and heard about Ad­ven­ture World’s po­si­tion­ing in WA’s tourism in­dus­try.

World. TWO lo­cal com­pa­nies have won prizes at the re­cent WA Train­ing Awards.

Bel­mont-based DNA Kingston Train­ing was named WA In­ter­na­tional Train­ing Provider of the Year and Crown Perth was named WA Em­ployer of the Year.

Depart­ment of Train­ing and Work­force De­vel­op­ment di­rec­tor-gen­eral Ruth Shean con­grat­u­lated the com­pa­nies.

DNA Kingston Train­ing is a spe­cial­ist den­tal aux­il­iary train­ing provider, of­fer­ing cour­ses from cer­tifi­cate II to ad­vanced diploma level.

Crown Perth pro­vides cus­tomised train­ing to ap­pren­tices and trainees in a range of ar­eas. LO­CAL group the Baby Boomers are invit­ing the com­mu­nity to at­tend their Spring Dance at the Can­ning­ton Bowl­ing Club this week­end.

The dance, held each quar­ter, will have a big band and plenty of en­ter­tain­ment for those want­ing to do­nate to Sa­mar­i­tans WA.

The dance aims to boost the spir­its af­ter re­cent gloomy weather and welcome in spring in style.
