Record en­tries for Fre­man­tle por­trait prize

MORE than 1800 en­tries were re­ceived for the Fre­man­tle In­ter­na­tional Por­trait Prize, break­ing its pre­vi­ous record of 1760 sub­mis­sions.

There were 1865 photos sub­mit­ted to this year’s com­pe­ti­tion, with a long list of 620 an­nounced ear­lier this month.

FiPP is fast be­com­ing one of Aus­tralia’s big­gest in­ter­na­tional pho­tog­ra­phy com­pe­ti­tions, with en­tries from 29 coun­tries sub­mit­ted this year.

FiPP chief stew­ard Dale Neill said they ex­pected around $25,000 to have been raised for their cho­sen char­ity, Arthri­tis & Os­teo­poro­sis WA.

The short­list will be an­nounced on Fri­day, with win­ners an­nounced on Oc­to­ber 24.

An ex­hi­bi­tion will be held at the Moores Con­tem­po­rary Art Gallery from Oc­to­ber 25 to Novem­ber 1.
