Redbacks set to dive right in

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Work Place -

OLYMPIC swimming silver medallist Antony Matkovich will head the new Aquinas Redbacks Swim Club.

Matkovich, who won silver at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and is also a two-time world champion in the pool, said he is excited about the prospect of the new club starting on October 1 at Aquinas College.

“The development of our squad programs these past few years has resulted in the establishment of the swim club,” he said.

He said the club would welcome members from across the community.

“Squad training and swimming lessons are run all year round at the heated 50m Aquinas pool and everyone is welcome to join, Aquinas and non-Aquinas boys and girls.”

He said all squad swimmers would become inaugural Redbacks Swim Club members and the opening of the club would coincide with the start of the WA swimming season.
