Couple takes pilates outdoors

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - News -

SOUTHEASTERN SUBURBS WHEN two experienced physiotherapists share a love for the outdoors, not only did a marriage blossom, but also a business venture.

Rivervale couple Kevin and Erin Forrest have been married for nearly three years and together launched Pilates in the Park Perth, which will hold classes at McCallum Park in Victoria Park from next month.

Erin said she developed the idea about five years ago.

“Given our backgrounds as pilatestrained physiotherapists and our love of the outdoors, the idea made perfect sense but we weren’t sure how to put it into practice,” she said.

“It wasn’t until we were on holiday in Iceland last year appreciating their beautiful countryside and the spectacular northern lights that Kev suggested we just give it a go when we get back to Perth.”

She said the couple enjoyed exercising outdoors together so it was an easy decision.

“We find that by taking the pilates classes in McCallum Park on the foreshore it gives us a chance to appreciate what a beautiful city we live in and how lucky we are with the weather,” she said.

“As physiotherapists we are also passionate about helping people and we feel that guiding people through exercise is the best way we can make a difference to people’s lives.”

She said a typical pilates workout combined stretching and strengthening exercises to improve core strength and posture.

“You’ll feel like you’ve done a workout.”
