Walk up an ap­petite

THE Como Pri­mary School P&C is en­tic­ing stu­dents to walk to school next month as part of the statewide Walk Over Oc­to­ber by pro­vid­ing another tasty break­fast.

Over the past 18 months, the P&C at Como Pri­mary has hosted a num­ber of healthy break­fasts at school to pro­mote stu­dent well­ness ini­tia­tives.

Along with healthy nutri­tion, new projects have en­cour­aged stu­dents to en­gage in ac­tive trans­port to and from school through the newly started ‘walk­ing school buses’.

With two routes avail­able for stu­dents, north bound and south bound, stu­dents have been able to par­tic­i­pate in the walk­ing school buses on Fri­days.

Como Pri­mary School P&C pres­i­dent Erica Schur­mann the next break­fast on Oc­to­ber 23 would help pro­mote the new well­ness ini­tia­tives.

“The walk­ing school buses are an ef­fort to re­duce traf­fic con­ges­tion and pro­vide a safer pedes­trian ex­pe­ri­ence as well as pro­mot­ing ac­tive trans­port to and from school,” Ms Schur­mann said.
