Helping hand for father of four
IF you could create the perfect father, John Kirwan-Ward would come pretty close.
The father of four girls has always been there to lend a helping hand with maintenance and odd jobs around the house – so much so that one of his daughters decided he needed a break.
Suzanne Sheridan entered her father in the Look Local WA Father Fix competition last month.
She said after a minor incident with a hedge trimmer, she decided it would be good if he could get a helping hand with his gardening.
The competition asked readers to tell Community Newspaper Group why their father deserved a break, with the winner receiving $500 towards hiring a tradesperson through looklocalwa.com.au.
“Dad was shocked when we gave it to him,” Mrs Sheridan said.
“He has always been there for us girls, so it was nice to give him something back.”
Stuart Saddington from Gone Gardening helped out with the job and now Mr Kirwan-Ward’s garden is looking better than ever.
“He’s even had neighbours ask him how his garden is looking so good,” Mrs Sheridan said.
