Top teach­ers up for awards

BEL­MONT City Col­lege prin­ci­pal Dar­rel Le Mercier has been named as a fi­nal­ist for WA Sec­ondary School Leader of the Year as part of the WA Ed­u­ca­tion Awards

Bel­mont City Col­lege is also a fi­nal­ist for WA Sec­ondary School of the Year.

Karla Bren­nan, from Kent Street Se­nior High School, is a fi­nal­ist in the WA Ed­u­ca­tion As­sis­tant of the Year cat­e­gory.

“Each year, we hon­our the best schools and teach­ers, lead­ers and other school staff,” Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter Peter Col­lier said.

“It’s al­ways in­spir­ing to see how they are chang­ing the lives of stu­dents and pre­par­ing them for the fu­ture.

“It’s very en­cour­ag­ing to see no mat­ter where our stu­dents are learn­ing in Western Aus­tralia, they are be­ing led, taught and sup­ported by cre­ative, ver­sa­tile and com­mit­ted staff.”

Award win­ners will be an­nounced on Novem­ber 30.
