STUDENTS at South Perth Primary School raised over $13,000 in extra funds through their efforts in Read-AThon.
From August 17 to 28, the students sought donations from the local community while they read as many books as they could for the Read-A-Thon challenge.
The school planned to use the extra funds from the event for new playground equipment.
General manager of The Fundraising Group Brendan Hopp said it was great news that schools were getting involved in the fundraiser.
“We’re into our second year of the School Read-A-Thon and we’ve found students have really embraced the concept,” he said.
“It improves their literacy all while raising some great extra money for their school,” he added.
