MLA welcomes flashing lights

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Street Watch -

SOUTH Perth MLA John McGrath welcomed the State Government announcement that seven more local schools will have flashing safety lights installed this financial year.

Mr McGrath said LED 40km/h signs would be installed at Como, South Perth, St Columba’s and St Pius X primary schools, and Aquinas, Como Secondary and Penrhos Colleges for the 2015-16 electronic school sign program.

“A record number of nearly 300 schools across the State will get these signs this finacial year,” Mr McGrath said.

“These lights increase driver awareness that they are entering a school zone and are required to reduce speed to the 40km/h limit.”

Mr McGrath said the safety lights were part of the Liberal-National Government’s commitment to make road safety one of its top priorities.
