Oars and open doors

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Sport -

ROWING clubs across the State will hold an open day on November 8 to showcase the sport and teach people how to row.

There will be a statewide ergo competition for the non-rowers.

The winners for each cate- gory will win a complimentary course on learning to row from their preferred club.

Eleven clubs across WA will open their doors, including Curtin University Boat Club.

Timothy Widdicombe from UWA Boat Club, said rowing was the ultimate team sport.

“It offers you the complete body workout,” he said.

“The friendship that you gain is much stronger than you will from other sports because of the training commitments and the work load that you do together.”
