Dear Fellow Residents of South Perth, The electors have a duty to elect their next mayor. You have a voice with your vote. Make it count! There are many good reasons to vote for a change to Cr Sharron Hawkins-Zeeb as Mayor but primarily because on her agenda is a change in priorities: ● Giving the Council back to residents and ratepayers and making the council more people friendly. The Council should be about the people and for the people. Too many decisions in the past appear to not have been in the interest of the residents of the City of South Perth. Sharrons inclusive people skills, Community engagement and communication expertise will help to achieve this.

● Advocating for sustainable development in order to preserve the specific character and lifestyle of South Perth. Development must primarily serve the interests of the residents in South Perth. Sharron advocates without hesitation for residents. The concerns over Scheme Amendment 46 lacking controls such as height limits & setbacks needs addressing so as to avoid further excessively high rise developments. Raising concerns about the design guidelines along Canning Highway including dedicated bus lanes & a heritage survey for Kensington with the planning department. Support will not be given to the proposed high rise along Canning Highway until the construction of the dedicated bus lanes commences and a suitable heritage plan is put in place. Sharrons skills in mediation and negotiation will assist in this. ● The preservation of our family friendly atmosphere, our parks, the foreshore and green leafy streets. All areas of the city are iconic so council enhancements need to be spread across the whole city. Promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle opportunities like bike riding and swimming should be enabled.

● Increasing transparency and accountability in Council. No negotiating behind closed doors in secret without consulting the public like in recent developments. This especially applies to council rates which should be linked to CPI. Looking for cost savings as a priority. Corporate knowledge, governance board skills like Sharron has are imperative for this to be done effectively. Cr Hawkins-Zeeb was one of the few councillors who questioned the budget and rate increases as well as the local government reform being funded by the ratepayers. She also questioned the authority with which South Perth residents funded the “SAVE BURSWOOD” campaign. Remember not so long ago the local government reform was a real risk. Ensure it does not gain momentum again and cost you, the rate payers many millions. Local Government affects you directly in your daily life and impacts on your surroundings. Please exercise your right to vote and elect SHARRON HAWKINS

ZEEB to be your strong voice and leader in Council as Mayor.
