WHEN you hear the words ‘ high tea’ you might conjure images of English gardens, regattas in the sunshine and parasols by the lake.
You probably wouldn’t think of b-boys, graffiti and gold chains.
The team from Perth bar The George, however, like to think outside the box.
Putting a fresh ‘spin’ on things, they give us Hip Hop High Tea.
In a first for the venue, the event entails an afternoon of classic and new-school rap favourites from DJ Klean Kicks, a candy buffet of childhood treats and a US-themed menu featuring cherry scones with Hennessey cream, corn dogs with barbecue sauce, Margherita pizza, double dip doughnuts and M&M cake pops.
Beverages include Lychee Lime Passion, Strawberry Shortcake iced teas and specially designed cocktails such as P.Diddy’s Tipple and My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to The George.
Guests will also be treated to a secret performance revealed on the day.
Venue manager Rochelle Marwick hopes the concept will become a regular occasion on the venue’s calendar.
“Everyone loves a DJ and having a boogie. We think it will be a bit more interactive and fun than your average high tea,” she said.
