Teen to rep­re­sent WA at sci­ence fo­rum

A SAL­TER Point teenager has se­cured a cov­eted place rep­re­sent­ing WA at the next Na­tional Youth Sci­ence Fo­rum at the Aus­tralian Na­tional Univer­sity.

More than 1200 young peo­ple ex­pressed an in­ter­est in at­tend­ing and Year 11 Cor­pus Christi Col­lege stu­dent Brit­tany Pas­coe was one of the 400 suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants.

“I am ec­static to be able to go on this trip and learn about the many dif­fer­ent as­pects of sci­ence,” Brit­tany said. “Hope­fully it will help me choose what I want to be.”

Par­tic­i­pants en­gage in a mix of lab­o­ra­tory and re­search fa­cil­ity vis­its and have the op­por­tu­nity to meet lead­ers from the sci­en­tific world.

“It’s such a great op­por­tu­nity to be able to meet like-minded peo­ple and dis­cover what is re­ally out there in re­gards to po­ten­tial ca­reers and my fu­ture,” Brit­tany said.

The Na­tional Youth Sci­ence Fo­rum is run in con­junc­tion with Ro­tary clubs around Aus­tralia.

The Ro­tary Club of South Perth Bur­swood se­lected Brit­tany to at­tend the 2016 fo­rum.
