SCIENCE has shown that we have a ‘social brain’ and that we are happiest when we cooperate with others, says Perth Montessori deputy principal Ian Michael.

“One of the biggest predictors of happiness is caring relationships so we need to help children let their innate empathy flourish,” he said.

“At Perth Montessori, we do that by helping children learn to self regulate and giving them the tools to use appropriate language.

“We create an environment that enables children to be their best, feel safe while growing in independence and where empathy is a core foundation to the teaching philosophy.”
