Pair thanked by foundation

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - News -

THE McGrath Foundation honoured two South Perth residents last month at a special event hosted by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Held at Kirribilli House on October 9, the McGrath Foundation thanked locals Mark Hayter and Sue Rickleman in honour of their contribution to the charity foundation.

Mr Hayter and Ms Rickleman have been long-time supporters of the McGrath Foundation, having raised more than $100,000 over the past five years through the Wesley Curtin Football Club.

The event marked an opportunity for McGrath Foundation president and cofounder Glenn McGrath to personally recognise and celebrate some of the foundation’s biggest supporters over the past 10 years.

“Over the past decade we have placed 105 McGrath breast care nurses in communities across Australia and this would not have been pos- sible without the support of incredible individuals and communities,” Mr McGrath said.

“It’s an honour to be able to recognise these amazing people in such a special setting as Kirribilli House with the Prime Minister.”

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the McGrath Foundation recently released a report revealing a critical gap in breast care nursing services, set to grow by 38 per cent in the next five years.

“To date our nurses have helped support over 36,000 families in Australia experiencing breast cancer by providing invaluable physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment,” McGrath Foundation chief executive Petra Buchanan said.

“This would not have been possible without people like Mark and Sue and we thank them and the rest of Australia for their commitment.”

McGrath Foundation chairman John Conde, chief executive Petra Buchanan, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, McGrath Foundation president Glenn McGrath and McGrath Foundation ambassador and director Tracy Bevan.
