Chil­dren’s Week kicked off in style

CHIL­DREN’S Week started at Perth Zoo last week with the pre­sen­ta­tion of the WA Chil­dren's Week Awards.

Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter Pe­ter Col­lier said the awards were an­other way of de­liv­er­ing learn­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties to young peo­ple about healthy life­styles be­ing in­te­gral to well­be­ing and self­con­fi­dence.

St Munchin’s Pri­mary School stu­dent Me­gan Schutte won the Com­mis­sioner’s Choice Art award.

Mr Col­lier pre­sented the Health and Well­be­ing Award to Ar­dross PS stu­dents.

The stu­dents de­vel­oped a large scale tree­grow­ing and plant­ing pro­gram and are now grow­ing and plant­ing 9000 trees each year, mak­ing a pos­i­tive con­tri­bu­tion to their com­mu­nity.

Camp Autism re­ceived the Com­mu­ni­ties Award for Metropoli­tan Ser­vices from Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Min­is­ter Tony Simp­son.
