SOUTH Perth Cricket Club won their sec­ond straight game in Pre­mier Cricket with a win against Mid­land-Guild­ford at Li­lac Hill on Satur­day.

The re­sult takes them up to ninth on the lad­der af­ter they lost the open­ing three matches of the 2015-16 sea­son.

Re­sum­ing at 2-32, South Perth made light work of the be­low-par tar­get of 147, with Trent Ovens an­chor­ing the in­nings with 80, while cap­tain Hugh Brown pro­vided sup­port with 49.

The away side were even­tu­ally bowled out for 214, be­fore hav­ing Mid­land-Guild­ford 7-135 at the close of play.

Nick Mitchell cap­tured 4-25 in an im­pres­sive all-round per­for­mance by his side.

Else­where, Perth lost their grip on top spot, go­ing down to new lead­ers Clare­mont-Ned­lands at Fletcher Park.

Hav­ing made 181 in the first in­nings, Perth needed early wick­ets but could not find them, as the Tigers put too many partnerships to­gether.

Even­tu­ally they bowled the away side out for 329, with Liam Guthrie tak­ing four wick­ets and Ryan Duffield three.
