South Perth’s second straight
SOUTH Perth Cricket Club won their second straight game in Premier Cricket with a win against Midland-Guildford at Lilac Hill on Saturday.
The result takes them up to ninth on the ladder after they lost the opening three matches of the 2015-16 season.
Resuming at 2-32, South Perth made light work of the below-par target of 147, with Trent Ovens anchoring the innings with 80, while captain Hugh Brown provided support with 49.
The away side were eventually bowled out for 214, before having Midland-Guildford 7-135 at the close of play.
Nick Mitchell captured 4-25 in an impressive all-round performance by his side.
Elsewhere, Perth lost their grip on top spot, going down to new leaders Claremont-Nedlands at Fletcher Park.
Having made 181 in the first innings, Perth needed early wickets but could not find them, as the Tigers put too many partnerships together.
Eventually they bowled the away side out for 329, with Liam Guthrie taking four wickets and Ryan Duffield three.
