Long lunch for a cause
FOOD and fashion were on the menu, with a side of philanthropy, at STIX Bar Burswood last weekend as Burswood beauty Elise Nazzari took over with charity event Lunching For Life.
The Miss Galaxy 2016 contestant organised the event in support of an organisation she holds close to her heart: Youth Focus WA.
The Burswood-based notfor-profit organisation offers free services to youths struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts.
And while Ms Nazzari is no stranger to raising money for a good cause, she said she wanted this event to help put Youth Focus on the map for young people who may be struggling.
“They provide free services for mental health, which is amazing because counselling can come at such a big cost,” she said.
“Growing up and suffering myself from these things as a teen, I thought ‘if only I’d known it was around’, so we need to raise awareness.”
Guests at the charity lunch enjoyed a three-course meal, sparkling wine on arrival and a fashion show featuring local evening gown designers Poppy & Charlie, and Amie Churack Designs.
“Amie showcased her graduation collection; it’s made up of pastel pink and cream gowns inspired by love and passion,” Ms Nazzari said.
“And Poppy & Charlie’s are quite elegant; their theme was sophisticated spring so it was full of beautiful colours.”
Attendees included former Bachelorette contestant Kayne Buik and Miss Global Australia 2015 Heidi Andrews.
Elise Nazzari organised the Lunching for Life event on Sunday.
