RELAX ON THE RIVER
PALATIAL ASCOT HOME
RECENT retirees Clive and Ann owe it all to a fishing trip for their palatial Ascot residence.
“We spotted a salesman hammering in a ‘For sale’ sign on the block,” Clive said,
“I was fishing on the river opposite at the time and thought it was just what we were looking for. I put in an offer and got it.”
The proud empty-nesters not only fell in love with the manageable 375sq m site but with the proximity to a good list of amenities.
“We have really enjoyed being directly across from the river, cycle paths and walkways to Garvey Park in one direction, and Ascot Racecourse in the other,” the owners said.
“Being so close to the city and major shopping centres gives us a city lifestyle without losing the country feel.”
Building with Statesman Homes, they created a low-maintenance property that would give them more time to relax and spend with their family.
Across 323sq m and two storeys, there are multiple living areas for family time, as well as entertaining.
Past the entry on the ground floor, a short hallway leads to the formal lounge and dining room on the left.
Stepping towards the rear of the property, the floor plan expands into the open-plan family and kitchen space, which flows out through sliding doors into the first of two alfresco spaces.
Behind a set of double doors, there is a massive games room with its own powder room, with more than enough room for a 2.7m pool table.
Also on this level are another powder room, the laundry and the shopper’s entry from the double garage.
On the first floor, there are four massive bedrooms with built-in robes.
This includes the master bedroom, which has a balcony with river views, his-and-her walk-in robes, fully-tiled spa ensuite, and connects to the home office, which busy professionals will no doubt find handy.
“One of our favourite things to do is breakfast on the balcony while watching horses trot past, boats on the river and spotting the occasional dolphin pod swim by,” the owners said.
The remaining bedrooms are centred on the bathroom with a bath and glass-screened shower. There is also a separate toilet.
One of the bedrooms at the rear is especially suited to older children and comes equipped with a wet kitchenette and storage.
“This can be used as a studio and gave our eldest son a feeling of independence in his own ‘apartment’,” the owners added.
Additional features include fully ducted reverse-cycle airconditioning upstairs and splitsystem airconditioning on the ground floor, and Chubb security alarm system with CCTV.
