Think locally for gifts
THIS Christmas is about buying something from Perth for someone from Perth.
Ascot-based stylist Kirsty Noakes from Shop and Style Specialists said WA shoppers had plenty of unique, handmade and couture options for gifts.
“The quality of these pieces far exceeds prices… people expect to pay more when the word designer or local is attached to a brand, but if you dig under the surface a bit you will see that this is all great quality stuff,” she said.
She said buying locally would be more than just sav- ing time negotiating shopping centre car parks.
“The most important thing is that it doesn’t take much to think about the gifts you are buying and choosing a Perth business owner,” she said.
“Small business owners will be thrilled; they will be over the moon.
“Buy from Perth where the designer has put its heart and soul in to products and gifts.”
She said some of her favourite items inspired her.
“Wishful Thinking is like Australia’s version of Tommy Hilfiger and Windy Creek Estate wines from the Swan Val- ley is so close and such a treat to go out and do a wine tasting,” she said.
“CoutureKidz is handmade clothing for children made by mums and Jessica Bratich bags were worn by celebrities like Mel B.
“There is a wealth of quality products and buying from these designers is like buying a piece of Perth.
“Be thoughtful when you are buying, I know a one-stopshop seems easier but we want to open people’s eyes to what small business offers.”
