Friendly rivalry alive and well in the pool
THE Southside Penrhos Wesley Swimming Club played host to the annual School’s Swim Challenge last month.
City of South Perth councillor Fiona Reid opened the event that saw over 200 local primary school swimmers compete in friendly rivalry.
The swimming event has been running for 19 years with every participant, regardless of finishing place, scoring points for their school team.
This year saw students from Wesley College, Penrhos College, Como Primary, South Perth Primary, Kensington Primary, St Columba’s, Mt Pleasant Primary and Applecross Primary compete.
Applecross won for both the girls and mixed teams while Wesley College won for boys.
Young swimmers take to the starting line.
