Friendly ri­valry alive and well in the pool

THE South­side Pen­rhos Wes­ley Swim­ming Club played host to the an­nual School’s Swim Chal­lenge last month.

City of South Perth coun­cil­lor Fiona Reid opened the event that saw over 200 lo­cal pri­mary school swim­mers com­pete in friendly ri­valry.

The swim­ming event has been run­ning for 19 years with ev­ery par­tic­i­pant, re­gard­less of fin­ish­ing place, scor­ing points for their school team.

This year saw stu­dents from Wes­ley Col­lege, Pen­rhos Col­lege, Como Pri­mary, South Perth Pri­mary, Kens­ing­ton Pri­mary, St Columba’s, Mt Pleas­ant Pri­mary and Ap­ple­cross Pri­mary com­pete.

Ap­ple­cross won for both the girls and mixed teams while Wes­ley Col­lege won for boys.
