Demons rising up the ranks

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Sport -

THE Perth Demons rose to the top of the Premier Cricket ladder without bowling a ball on Saturday when Round Seven concluded.

The Demons’ first innings victory on the first day of their match against Joondalup at Fletcher Park was enough to see them lead the ladder after bad weather stopped the match on Saturday.

Claremont-Nedlands loss to Rockingham-Mandurah saw the Demons return to the summit after seven rounds of action.

South Perth drew its game against Mt Lawley at Breckler Park, with rain playing a big part in the fixture.

The Sky Blues got on the field late in the day, managing 4-114 off 38 overs before the match was deemed a draw.

In Sunday’s Statewide T20 double-header matches, Perth defeated Fremantle and Scarborough to finish runners-up which would seal its progress to the finals.

South Perth’s fixtures at Breckler Park were abandoned due to poor conditions following rain.
