Hello everyone, I hope you had fantastic festive break and managed to cool down to escape the heat. I am very excited to introduce one of the newest and most important projects the Town has ever undertaken – the Evolve project! The Evolve project has a radically different approach to traditional local government practises, where we will be asking the community to tell us what the vision for the Town’s future should be. We’re preparing a set of strategic documents to guide the future direction of the organisation. Normally, these documents are prepared and presented in draft form to the community, who are then asked to provide comment. The Town is turning this process on its head and trying something completely different by taking the community on the journey from the start and asking you to tell the Town how it should be planning for the future based on your needs and wants. Undertaking this level, and type of community engagement on a project is unprecedented for the Town and will be a point of difference with Evolve. We want to be able to have genuine and open conversations with the community about the areas where you feel you are being over or under serviced so that we can understand your priorities, and your expectations. The Evolve project will impact every single person living, working and visiting the Town and we want you to get involved! So head to and have your voice heard. Plus I’d like to wish an early Gong Xi Fa Cai! (Happy New Year!) to our Chinese community, who celebrate Chinese New Year on 8 February this year. There will be some great events happening in the Town, so check our website closer to the date. I’m really looking forward to another vibrant and rewarding year in the Town of Victoria Park.
