Perth surrenders top spot
PERTH’s season was rocked by back-to-back losses over the weekend to Gosnells and Mt Lawley, with the side losing its place at the top of the Premier Cricket table.
There was a double-round fixture over the weekend following the two-week Premier Cricket hiatus over the Christmas period.
On Saturday, Perth set Gosnells 202 to win, with Jake Lewis (41n.o.) and Sean Roberts (58n.o.) leading the charge at Sutherlands Park.
Roberts then took two wickets but it wasn’t enough, as Gosnells chased the total for eight down.
Perth then went down in dramatic fashion on Sunday at Fletcher Park, with Mount Lawley managing a three-run victory.
Luke Jury smashed 56 but it wasn’t enough for his side.
Meanwhile, South Perth is stuck to the bottom of the table after a tough weekend of fixtures.
Scarborough narrowly beat the Sky Blues on Saturday, despite the performance of Jacob Mulder, who took 5-21.
Darius D’Silva managed 47 in the 16-run loss.
Willetton then hammered the Sky Blues on Sunday by eight wickets, with South Perth only managing 92 all out at Richardson Park.
Next round, South Perth hosts Fremantle and Perth goes to Scarborough from 11am on Saturday.
