New merge lines for WA
A CHANGE in driver behaviour coupled with new merge lines will make driving on key Perth roads safer and less congested, according to State and Federal ministers.
Minister for Major Projects, Territories and Local Government Paul Fletcher said new and better-defined continuity merge lines between freeway on-ramps and traffic lanes will be placed on Perth freeway on-ramps from this month.
The new merge lines are a traffic congestion management program initiative for Perth, and is one of nine projects receiving a total of $499.1 million in Australian Government funding under the WA Infrastructure Projects National Partnership.
State Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the improvements would take place over the next few months at all onramp merge points on the Kwinana and Mitchell freeways.
The new merge lines will be completed by April.
