PERTH will need Jonathon Wells to fire if they are to win af­ter a tough first day against Bayswa­ter-Mor­ley on Satur­day at Fletcher Park in Premier Cricket.

The se­cond-placed Demons are des­per­ate for vic­tory to help their bid to re­turn to top spot, but outof-form Bayswa­ter-Mor­ley are putting up a se­ri­ous fight.

Perth could only re­strict the Bears to 279 from 66.5 overs, with Ryan Duffield im­pres­sive with 4-57. Liam Guthrie and Jake Lewis chipped in with two wick­ets as well.

To make mat­ters worse, Perth is 2-40 in re­sponse, with Wells un­beaten on 13. Open­ers Dain More­ton and Liam Thomas lost their wick­ets late in the day.

South Perth is in a win­ning po­si­tion against Wan­neroo at Kingsway Re­serve, af­ter an im­por­tant in­nings from a young star.

Dar­ius D’Silva smashed 61 with an amaz­ing five sixes to lead his side to 189, while cap­tain Hugh Brown scored 59 to an­chor the in­nings.

The Sky Blues then rolled the Roos top or­der to end the day 4-41. Si­mon Rin­grose was im­pres­sive with 3-29.
