Home for the Fringe
FROM Germany to Switzerland to Spain, jazz legend Adam Hall has taken the international music scene by storm. Now the Como resident is back to treat audiences at Fringe World.
AFTER selling out the opening night of the Fly by Night’s new venue, Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys have been busy making their mark on the international music scene.
Still pinching themselves over opportunities to open for UB40 and Nile Rodgers in Belgium, they took part in the Berlin Street Festival, Germany’s Blue Note, Switzerland’s Bern Blues Festival and the Rockin Race Jamboree in Spain.
They will keep their international ties in check when they perform alongside American Richard Jackson in a series of shows at this year’s Fringe World.
Hall, of Como, said after performing alongside Jackson at the Fly by Night, the group had been looking for another opportunity to perform together.
“Luckily Fringe World came up with an option to get this American superstar in our own backyard,” he said.
“Jackson will present the works of his contemporaries such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, James Brown and many other great soul artists.
“Having headlined many major festivals around the world, it is an amazing opportunity for Perth to hear this one of a kind performer.”
Jackson will join Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys at The West Australian Spiegeltent, The Pleasure Garden, Northbridge, from February 1521.
