RESIDENTS in parts of Manning, Salter Point, Como, East Victoria Park and Carlisle should be able to experience the benefits of fast broadband following the official switchon of the national broadband network (NBN) in the area.

About 5200 homes and businesses in parts of the suburbs will soon be able to connect to the NBN.

This announcement begins the 18-month countdown for homes and businesses to make the switch before the NBN network replaces existing landline and internet services.

“The NBN provides opportunities to change the way Australians can enjoy inhome entertainment, do business and access medical services and elearning resources,” NBN spokeswoman Phillipa Perry said.

“The move to the NBN is not automatic and may take some planning and coordination.

“Residents and business owners in the area are encouraged to contact their preferred phone company and internet service provider to connect their home or business.”
