Rain denies victory to South Perth
SOUTH Perth was unable to complete a muchneeded victory as rain stopped the charge against Wanneroo at Kingsway Sports Ground in Premier Cricket on Saturday.
The entire second day’s play was washed out, leaving the Sky Blues rooted to the bottom of the Premier Cricket ladder.
South Perth had reduced Wanneroo to 4-42 after making 189 with the bat on the first day, putting themselves in a great position to claim their first win in five games.
Elsewhere, Perth benefitted from the rain as they found themselves in deep trouble against Bayswater-Morley before the heavens opened at Fletcher Park, forcing a draw.
Perth was reeling at 5-54 in pursuit of 279, losing 3-1 at one stage, with Ryan Duffield (11), Tom Casey (5) and Jake Lewis (0) falling in quick succession. The remainder of the day was washed out meaning Perth stay entrenched inside the top six.
