Women’s grants open

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

APPLICATIONS are open for State Government grants for projects which promote women’s economic independence and leadership. Last year’s WA Grants for Women program saw more than $83,000 in funding go to 20 projects, including the National Association of Women in Construction, the Skills for Women Project and Katanning Regional Business Association. Women’s Interests Minister Liza Harvey said local governments and eligible community service organisations could apply for up to $5000 to pay for project costs including advertising, printing or childcare. “Women in Western Australia face a number of barriers to improve their status; they continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles and are more likely than men to have no savings at retirement,” she said. Applications close on Thursday, March 17. For more information go to www.dlgc.wa.gov.au.
