New shed opens doors
A THREE-year effort to establish a men’s shed in Belmont will reach its crescendo this Saturday as the local group officially opens its shed door to the public.
Inspired by the growth of the national men’s shed movement, a group of local blokes gathered in May 2013 with the vision to create their own branch in Belmont.
They became the steering committee of the Belmont Men’s Shed Inc and this Saturday they can declare mission accomplished.
The committee has already been involved in community events and fundraising but this is the first time the group has officially opened to the community.
City of Belmont Mayor Phil Marks will be there for the official opening.
The City covered the rental costs of the factory on Robinson Avenue the men’s shed now call their headquarters.
There is also a computer facility to assist with educational programs at the shed.
To attend the opening at 10.30am this Saturday, RSVP to email@example.com or in writing to 57 Robinson Avenue, Belmont, 6104.
