Boost for young actor
YOUNG Manning actor Chanel Marriott is vying for a prestigious award in the company of a number of world famous stars.
Marriott (20) was nominated for Best Performance in a Feature Film at the upcoming 37th Annual Young Artist Awards for her performance in the controversial pro-life drama Alison’s Choice.
Playfully referred to as the ‘Kiddie Oscars’, the Young Artist Awards are young Hollywood’s answer to the Academy Awards to recognise young people in entertainment.
This year marks Marriott’s fourth consecutive nomination, though 2016 will be her first in the feature film category.
Alongside household names like Abigail Breslin and Elle Fanning, Marriott admitted she felt the she was the underdog of the category.
“Alison’s Choice is an independent film produced with an indie-sized budget,” she said.
“I am thrilled to be nominated alongside such powerhouse actors, but I am definitely the Rocky Balboa of the category.”
Born and raised in Perth, Marriott began acting at age seven.
She relocated to LA in July 2011, adding more than 30 projects to her resume, including lead and supporting roles in feature and short films, television, pilots, web series, commercials and stage shows.
