Free sem­i­nar on how to man­age pain

AN es­ti­mated 20 per cent of Aus­tralian adults are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing chronic pain, with more women than men suf­fer­ing.

Ju­niper is hold­ing a free sem­i­nar on how to man­age chronic pain, look­ing at why we ex­pe­ri­ence pain, var­i­ous types of pain and man­ag­ing it with­out med­i­ca­tion.

“It is pos­si­ble to ef­fec­tively man­age 70-80 per cent of chronic pain, how­ever only 10 per cent of those af­fected are re­ceiv­ing ad­e­quate treat­ment,” said Ju­niper’s com­mu­nity nurse Janet An­der­son.

“This is will be a ben­e­fi­cial sem­i­nar for those suf­fer­ing from chronic pain or car­ing for some­one who suf­fers from chronic pain.”

The one-hour sem­i­nar is on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 24 at 2pm at Sut­ton Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Ju­niper Rowethorpe, 4-10 Hay­man Road, Bent­ley
