McGrath Foun­da­tion eyes messy fundraiser for nurses

A 5KM, fe­male-only mud and ob­sta­cle race is com­ing to As­cot Race­course in a bid to raise money for The McGrath Foun­da­tion.

Miss Muddy events are be­ing held through­out Aus­tralia and or­gan­is­ers are hop­ing the Perth event on April 30 and May 1 will at­tract about 5000 peo­ple.

The aim is to raise more than $2 mil­lion to place a breast can­cer nurse in each lo­ca­tion for three years.

The nurses pro­vide vi­tal phys­i­cal, psy­cho­log­i­cal and emo­tional sup­port through­out treat­ment ac­cord­ing to Miss Muddy di­rec­tor Adam McDon­ald.

“Each year more than 15,000 women in Aus­tralia are di­ag­nosed with breast can­cer,” he said.

“We want to sup­port them by in­creas­ing the num­bers of breast can­cer nurses.”
