VICTORIA Park resident and viola da gamba player Makota Harris Takao is set to take part in Songs in English, a showcase of local musicians and singers ready to honour composers from over four centuries.

This performance marks Art Song Perth’s first 2016 concert.

Artistic director Marilyn Phillips said the program for Songs in English was varied and would have something for everyone.

“The program has musical moods from the beauty to the bawdy; the reflective to the romantic and the divine to the debonair,” she said.

Art Song Perth will host four more recitals during the year in May, July, September and October.

The organisation aims to enhance the musical life of Western Australia through the performance and promotion of art song. Each year, it presents a series of recitals by both experienced and emerging artists.
