Airport upgrade good news for families

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

AN exciting new play area and eatery have touched down at the Perth Airport departures lounge as part of the $12.5 million expansion.

The 927sq m expansion at the eastern end of the level two departures lounge includes contemporary food and beverage outlet Haymarket and the new children’s play area.

“We wanted to create an area specifically for families where parents can relax in comfortable seating, while their children play close by in a safe area,” Perth Airport’s chief executive officer Brad Geatches said.

“Navigating check-in, immigration and security screening can take the shine off the start to a family holiday, so in this area parents can de-stress before their flight.”

Perth Airport is also undertaking a $54 million makeover of the T1 forecourt, which includes a 27 metre landscaped plaza with food outlets and four new retail shops.

This project will be completed towards the end of 2016.
