RENTALS HAVE SLIGHT RISE

RENTAL REIWA mem­bers re­ported to­tal prop­er­ties leased for the four-week pe­riod in­creased to 653, a rise of 14 per cent over the last four weeks, and are 10 per cent higher than the same time last year. To­tal leased prop­er­ties in the Perth Metro re­gion in­creased by 17 per cent and still re­main 13 per cent above the same time last year. List­ings in the South­ernGazette area have de­creased in the four weeks by 2 per cent but re­main 53 per cent higher than the same time last year. The over­all mar­ket has seen list­ings de­crease across the four weeks by 3 per cent but re­mains 56 per cent above the same time last year. Over­all me­dian weekly rent for the lo­cal area for the three months to Jan­uary 2016 is $395/week over­all – $55/week lower than the three months to Jan­uary 2015. Sim­i­larly, the over­all me­dian rent for Perth has seen a $45/week fall in the three months to Jan­uary 2016.
