Bring out bulk waste – safely

IT is “dis­posal day” on Sun­day, March 13, for res­i­dents in City of Bel­mont.

As­bestos, mo­tor oil, car bat­ter­ies, mat­tresses, en­sem­ble bed bases and plate glass dis­posal can be dis­posed of at the coun­cil’s op­er­a­tions cen­tre at 180 Planet Street, Carlisle, from 9am to 2pm.

As­bestos prod­ucts such as sheets from fences, floors, walls and roofs, old linoleum, brake pads, some in­su­la­tion, lag­ging tape, eaves-lin­ing, gut­ter­ing and pipes can be brought to the op­er­a­tions cen­tre for dis­posal.

Fi­brous ce­ment prod­ucts made af­ter 1987 do not con­tain as­bestos fi­bres, but those made be­fore 1987 may do so.

As­bestos must be wrapped and sealed in heavy duty builders plas­tic to en­sure it is safe to be ac­cepted.
