VICTORIA Park residents can now experience higher quality public internet access.
Town of Victoria Park teamed up with Telstra to upgrade the Digital Hub and transition it on to the National Broadband Network (NBN).
Telstra area general manager Guy Champion said the upgrade was part of an exciting time for the Town.
“We’ve been working closely with the Town of Victoria Park to tailor an NBN solution that best boosts the Hub’s capabilities and ultimately benefits the local community,” Mr Champion said.
“The Digital Hub will continue to be an improved free resource to provide unique insights into the exciting new technology and how it can benefit their lives.
“Visitors can learn about everything from technology and internet basics, right up to how to help their business utilise cloud technology.”
Victoria Park is one of the speediest internet areas in WA, with 20,000 homes and businesses connected or able to connect to the NBN since it was first switched on three years ago.
Mr Champion said the extension of Telstra’s services on the NBN was happening in East Victoria Park, Carlisle, Kewdale, Welshpool and Bentley.
“This is a really exciting time for the people of Victoria Park and the sur- rounding areas,” he said.
“The expansion of fast internet across the region marks the beginning of a new technology driven era for locals and makes Victoria Park one of the most highly connected areas in WA.
“The NBN will give these people the opportunity to tap into a variety of new and emerging technologies made possible by fast and reliable broadband.”
Council, Telstra representatives, residents and local businesses celebrated the upgraded Hub at a special function last week to test drive the new NBN service on offer.
