Agency sells the big One

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

THE owners of a Cloverdale newsagency said they were relieved to have sold their first Division One lottery ticket.

Last Saturday saw four WA residents become $659,000 richer after buying winning first division tickets, including one sold locally.

Owner of Day By Day Newsagency in Cloverdale Lionel Liew said he had previously sold two Division One tickets worth about $10,000 but this was by far the biggest win they had sold.

“We have had the business for just over a year now and we were wondering when it might happen because a lot of customers were asking,” he said.

“It’s good to have the first off our back.”

The winner, a woman who bought the winning ticket from the newsagency, said she called her husband who works Fifo to share the good news.

“I told him, ‘I think you should hand in your notice – we’ve won Lotto’,” she said.

“It’s the best timing for us. We are from New Zealand so this money is our future.”
