Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - LOCAL FOCUS -

FRENCH film culture will be celebrated across in Perth with the 27th Alliance Francaise French Film Festival.

Returning to Luna Palace Cinemas for 2016, the festival will mesmerise with a dazzling lineup of contemporary features, a classic and a new program strand that will showcase five of France’s premier television series.

The festival will kick off with opening night film Rosalie Blum, which marks acclaimed screenwriter Julien Rappeneau’s directorial debut.

Rosalie Blum tells the story of Vincent (Kyan Khojand), a 30-something hairdresser who experiences a powerful deja-vu when he meets the gaze of the mysterious Rosalie Blum (Noemie Lvovsky) and begins following her, a decision that will have unexpected and far-reaching consequences.

Lovers of cinema classics should enjoy the chance to see a fully restored version of JeanLuc Godard’s 1963 classic, Contempt (Le Mepris) starring Brigitte Bardot, on closing night.

The festival runs from March 16 to April 7. Visit www.affrenchfilmfestival.org and www. lunapalace.com.au.
